The Solar / PV Experience
On this page you'll see what happens from the free survey of your home through to after the installation of your Solar / PV system is complete.
Site visit
When you contact us, we will take your details and get our expert to call you back and set up a meeting at a time convenient for you to undertake an assessment of your house. It will be done by one of our system designers and will take approximately 1.5 hours on site. The purpose of the visit is to advise you on the most suitable PV system for your home. Twenty four hours prior to the visit we will contact you and check that the meeting is still convenient for you.
The PV system designer will inspect and talk you through:
|
|
• The suitability of your property to accommodate a PV system
• The condition, orientation and size of your roof
• The connection that will be made between the PV panels and your main electricity consumer unit
• Any special scaffolding requirements (a mobile scaffolding unit that we carry in our vans should be suitable for most houses and we will try and use this wherever possible)
• The options available to you depending on the available space for the system and your budget
• The anticipated electrical generation of the chosen PV system and the income and savings that are likely
• Additional work that needs to be done prior to the installation of your PV system. For example, whether we need to upgrade the secondary earth bonding on your gas and water pipes, or upgrade your consumer unit
• In nearly all instances we will provide you with a firm price for the supply and installation of the chosen system whilst we are in your home
|
Please ensure that your loft and electricity consumer unit are accessible.
If you're ready for a solar / PV designer to provide you with a free, no-obligation survey, simply contact us today.
After the Site Visit
The PV system designer will send back all information collected from the site survey to the National Energy Services Centre. You will then be sent the following documents:
|
|
• Formal proposal with a breakdown of costs and installation requirements
• Acceptance form with a copy of our Terms and Conditions
• Additional documentation about the system recommended for your property
|
If you are happy the proposal, please sign the Acceptance Form, tick your preferred method of payment for the 10% deposit, and send back to us a signed and dated copy. Once you have signed the Acceptance Form you are confirming that you have understood and accepted the proposal and the Terms and Conditions and that a contract will have been formed between you and National Energy Services.
Once the signed Acceptance Form has been received, we will call you to arrange a convenient date for the installation of your solar PV system.
Payment
Deposit: We ask that you pay a deposit of 10% of the contract price upon returning the Acceptance Form to NES. You can pay this deposit by cheque, bank transfer, cash (please do not send cash in the post), or over the telephone by credit card. We will place all deposit money into a protected bank account which will ensure the money is retrievable to you in the event that NES ceases to trade or goes into administration. (This excludes deposits paid for by credit card, where alternative consumer protection exists). We are required to do this as part of our commitment to the REAL Customer Code.
Remaining balance: Once we have finished the installation we will ask you to sign a completion certificate to confirm that the installation has been completed to your satisfaction. At this point you will need to pay NES the balance of the Contract Price Payment must either be by cheque, cash or bank transfer. If you pay by credit card we will need to make a surcharge of 2% on the balance to cover our additional bank charges. Once the payment has cleared, NES will complete the necessary paperwork necessary for you to claim the feed in tariffs.

The Installation Process
The full installation will take two days to complete. Please ensure that you or a nominated adult over the age of 18 will be present during the installation. We will need to park a van within close proximity of your house, and we’ll also need unobstructed access into your home. Your power may be disconnected at times throughout the install.
On the final day of the installation, the system will be checked and fully explained to you. To ensure minimum disruption to you we will clear surplus debris and make arrangements for the removal of the scaffolding.
After The Installation
Once your installation is complete, you will receive a feed in tariff eligibility certificate. You need to notify your chosen energy supplier and send the paperwork to your energy company. The supplier will then register your installation
|
on the central feed in tariff database, which is administered by Ofgem. You can arrange with your energy supplier when the payments will be made to you. We will be able to guide and assist you through this process, which is quite straightforward. |
It starts with a free solar PV survey
But don't forget: it all starts with a simple, free survey of your home. There's no obligation for you to buy, and we'll only recommend a Solar / PV system that suits you and your home. Contact us today to arrange a visit.
